Tanzania has many popular crystals use in industry such as abrasives, as well as prized gems like tanzanite and corundum. Embedded in this specimen of zoisite are rubies also called corundum. Corundum are a six sided crystals with a hardness of 9 and ranked second only to diamonds. Rubies were preferred over diamonds for thousands of years and were use as tender. This specimen is fluorescent; orange, yellow and red.
