This perfect piece of Brain Coral was found by our grandfather on a trip to Florida in 1982. Though not ancient, this specimens' size and calcification lends us to believe it is older then we are.

Rose Coral

 

This is called Rose Coral

Manicina sp.

This specimen is 15 million year old (from the Miocene Epoch). It shared the earth with the first hominids. The Coral was found in Florida. It name refers to the pedal like shape of the coral. The underneath side is shaped like a clam shell. Fossilized coral is calcified.

 

Fossil Coral and Fossil Shells

Fossil Coral

There are a lot of goodies hiding in the specimen. This huge piece of Fossilized Corals and Fossil Shells was collected in Palm Beach County, Florida. Two million years ago it shared the sea with largest sharks and whales during the Pliocene Epoch. It is both calcified and has several sections of aggregates.
