Chalcopyrite

Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) copper iron sulfide

This specimen has quartz crystals and iron sulfide crystals. Found in this form is uncommon. It is semi-hard 3.5 -4 and is relatively fragile. It has small, disphenoidal and pseudo-tetrahedral crystals. This sample is softer then pyrite and would give off a green toxic irritating fumes if burned.
