A basic carbonate of zinc and copper. It has a hardness of 2. The name is derived from the ancient Greek word for brass or copper "oreichalkon". This mineral could be considered a natural brass ore but is so rare that it could never serve this purpose. The sky blue feather-like crystal is an orthorhombic crystal.
